    In a national survey conducted for Rain-X® it was found that...

    • 61 percent believe the Groundhog will see its shadow in 2007
    • Women, more so than men, tend to think the Groundhog will see his shadow in 2007
    • Only 55 percent actually know the correct month and day of Groundhog Day
    • Libras were the most likely to put their faith in the Groundhog's prediction capabilities while Sagittarians are more likely to feel as though weather forecasting is reliable
    • 96 percent are aware of the meaning of Groundhog Day
    • Nearly one-quarter pay attention to the Groundhog's prediction and believe its forecast
    • Those who pay attention to the Groundhog's prediction are more apt to check the forecast multiple times per day when compared to those who do not (33% versus 27%)
    • 30 percent are "weather obsessed" as they check the weather multiple times throughout the day
    • Only 25 percent put their complete trust in weather forecasting and find it to be completely reliable
    • Women are more likely to know the date of Groundhog Day than the name of their local senator
    • Respondents 55+ are most likely to believe that the Groundhog will see his shadow in 2007
    • Respondents 29 and under are less likely to check the forecast multiple time per day than those 55+
    • New Englanders are the most skeptical Americans when it comes to the Groundhog's weather predictions
    • Southerners are the most likely to have faith in the reliability of weather forecasts

    *These results are based on a national survey conducted in October 2006. A total of 1,010 interviews were completed among licensed drivers 18 years and older. Results are based on the total sample of 1,010 adults, at 95% confidence.
