Product Testing Overview

The Rain-X® Silicone AdvantEdge® squeegee lasts 2X longer than traditional rubber squeegees, based on third-party testing.Rain-X® used test method ASTM D1149, Method A, Procedure A1 to test the Silicone AdvantEdge® wiper squeegee rubber. ASTM is an internationally recognized set of standards for materials, products, systems, and services. These standards are developed by an ASTM technical committee.

ASTM D1149 is a Dynamic Ozone Resistance test that measures deterioration and degradation under dynamic strain at a specified ozone concentration and temperature. Testing for each wiper rubber sample concluded when: 1) cracking was present in the rubber, or 2) testing reached 168 hours with no cracking in the rubber. Test results showed cracking in competitive samples of traditional natural rubber or blended natural rubber squeegees after 24 and 48 hours. The Rain-X® Silicone AdvantEdge® silicone squeegee had no cracks after 168 hours of testing. The claim Rain-X® Silicone AdvantEdge® lasts two times longer is based on these results.
